Freevalve AB is a Swedish technology company founded year 2000. We have developed and patented a state of the art next-generation valve-train technology, combustion engines. Freevalve began development of its technology in 2000 and its sixth-generation actuator technology represents over a decade of testing and development, both in the lab and on test vehicles driven in real world conditions. Freevalve’s engineering and administrative offices are located at the campus of Koenigsegg Automotive in Ängelholm, Sweden.

We currently have 13 employees with multinational backgrounds, with their eyes set on writing the future of transportation. Passion and will to surpass existing standards is our most valuable characteristic, and we expect you to have that as well. Engineer – Actuator Procurement & Production

Overview:
Work on a highly intelligent, lightweight and motivated team to achieve our goal of revolutionizing the combustion engine with Freevalve technology. As a design engineer for actuator procurement and production, you will ensure that our core technology can be designed, manufactured and produced to high standards for both small and large-scale production.
Responsibilities:
– Work closely with Actuator R&D to provide conceptual feedback regarding manufacturing, assembly and quality
– Maintain supply networks and procurement responsibilities for actuator components
– Maintain quality control program for actuator components during procurement and assembly
– Develop small scale in-house production line for actuators with pass/fail testing at each step
– Develop and maintain efficient parts tracking methodology at all component levels (component, subassy, assy)
– Manually assemble actuators through self-developed production line to achieve production efficiency targets and deadlines for external deliveries
Basic Qualifications:
– Undergraduate degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial or similar)
– 3+ years of experience in small-scale production processes and quality control
– Fluent in major CAD software (Catia V5, V6, Solidworks, etc)
– Strong knowledge of metal alloys and characteristics manufacturing techniques and treatment processes
– Basic knowledge of internal combustion engines and transportation technology
– Thrive with large degrees of freedom, responsibility and accountability

Engineer – Compressor Systems Development

Overview:
Work on a highly intelligent, lightweight and motivated team to achieve our goal of revolutionizing the combustion engine with Freevalve technology. As an engineer dedicated to compressor systems development, you will be mapping the future of compressor applications to the Freevalve system to push our limits of low energy consumption, high durability and fast transient response.
Responsibilities:
– Work closely with Auxiliary systems R&D to quantify compressor performance in various engine applications
– Specify, design and build test setups capable of mapping various compressor units
– Perform testing of compressors with organized test data and documentation
– Manage and modify compressor control software to achieve both steady state and transient targets
– In-depth analysis of compressor characteristics (thermal, transient, etc) to make final conclusions and recommendations
– Assist Auxiliary R&D with design and testing tasks
Basic Qualifications:
– Undergraduate degree in relevant engineering field (Mechanical or similar)
– 3+ years of experience with pneumatic / hydraulic pump systems
– Intermediate knowledge of refrigeration systems and lubrication
– Comfortable reading, understanding and troubleshooting functions in C, C++ or similar
– Basic CAD skills (Solidworks, Catia V5 or similar)

Design Engineer – Valvetrain & Fluid Dynamics
Overview:
Work on a highly intelligent, lightweight and motivated team to achieve our goal of revolutionizing the combustion engine with Freevalve technology. As a design engineer developing the valvetrain and fluid dynamic systems, you will help advance a mass-market pneumatic spring solution and address dynamic fluid behaviors in the Freevalve system.
Responsibilities:
– Design, build and thoroughly test pneumatic spring and hydraulic damping solutions to satisfy a wide array of requirements.
– Work with customer requirements to define durability, performance and cost targets and design test programs to verify
– Specify and build test setups to perform testing while maintaining strong data management and documentation practices
Basic Qualifications:
– Undergraduate degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial or similar)
– 3+ years experience in pneumatic/hydraulic system design (including seal design)
– Fluent in major CAD software (Catia V5, V6, Solidworks, etc)

Engineer – Systems Testing & Calibration
Overview:
Work on a highly intelligent, lightweight and motivated team to achieve our goal of revolutionizing the combustion engine with Freevalve technology. As calibration engineer for Freevalve, you will be the bridge between our hardware and software teams to ensure that all systems are up and running for testing and development.
Responsibilities:
– Implementing electronics hardware to both actuator and compressor systems to ensure full functionality
– Outline hardware-related software functionality, and work with electronics team to implement new or improve existing strategies
– Work with minimal supervision to execute detailed testing plans from actuator level to engine level
– Create and maintain structured data acquisition methods to log history and present results
– Interpret results to provide valuable troubleshooting information for hardware and software teams.
Basic Qualifications:
– Undergraduate degree in relevant field (mechanical, software, computer, etc.)
– 3+ years of experience in testing and calibration environment
– Experience specifying and implementing data acquisition systems and associated hardware
– Comfortable reading, understanding and troubleshooting functions in C, C++ or similar

Engineer – Simulation
Overview:
Work on a highly intelligent, lightweight and motivated team to achieve our goal of revolutionizing the combustion engine with Freevalve technology. As a simulation engineer for our team, you will advance our analysis capabilities to supplement critical design decisions moving forward.
Responsibilities:
– Work with component and system models in 1-D simulation and verify against calculations and test data
– Design and execute sensitivity analyses to provide direction to design team
– Work with R&D to develop potential system configurations through accurate modeling practices
– Perform design studies on potential operating modes including alternative fuels, engine configurations, etc.
– Research & analyze latest technology regarding compressors, heat exchangers and pumps
Basic Qualifications:
– Undergraduate degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Automotive, etc)
– 3+ years of experience in fluid/thermodynamic simulation environment
– Fluent in major simulation software (GT-Power or similar)
– Strong knowledge of thermodynamics and fluid dynamics
– Basic experience with automotive compressor systems, mapping and characteristics

Developer – Control Systems

Overview:
Work on a highly intelligent, lightweight and motivated team to achieve our goal of revolutionizing the combustion engine with Freevalve technology. As a developer in the Control Systems team, you will work with embedded electronics and software, utilizing the full capabilities of the FreeValve system. That may involve electronics construction, developing valve control strategies, writing technical documentation as well as hands on implementation in engine test cells and vehicles.
Responsibilities:
– Construct, evaluate and test embedded electronic circuits
– Design and update PCBs for use in automotive applications
– Program real time embedded systems in C/C++
– Write technical documentation
Basic Qualifications:
– Degree in relevant field
– 3-5 years of experience in embedded systems development
– Experience in C/C++
– Hands on experience with electronics
– Fluent in English
Preferred Skills and Experience:
– Mechatronics experience
– Knowledge of combustion engines and technology
